Got some fresh talent coming straight from the home turf today. Rey Resurreccion is an emcee/producer from San Jose, California. Growing up, Rey has emulated hip hop legends such as The Pharcyde, Tupac, and Outkast into a well balanced, classic sound. On the track, Rey comes with a smooth laid back style over a combination of hard drums, original compositions, and nostalgic samples. The album “Limitless” has the feel of Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001 production with the delivery of an emcee like Rakim or Nas. Rey independently produced and released the 14 track opus titled “Limitless” which features Oneself, Ronnie Lee, & Gi.
We’ve had 1000+ visits since this little blog has started, and I’d just like to say thanks, and that we’re all stoked that people have been visiting! To mark this day, I’m going to post some presents for everybody!
I’ve been gettin’ down on the dirty/deep tech house lately. Got some great stuff coming from Poligono (he’s also a sick designer – go check the myspace)! Mammuthus goes way dummy. (Teenage Kicks delves more into the electro-house genre, coming from his Activo EP).
Flat Beat just got phatter. Calvertron puts some extra woomp into Mr. Oizo’s Flat Beat wobbles, recreating the track with some new vocals while generally hyph’n up the whole mix. I’ve always been a fan of flat beat, so this remix was quite a treat.
Found this little gem on Wizards Are Better (Thanks guys!). Some dandy fine grinding, wobbling gnar gnar from Prowley Burglars. The track is quite fidget in nature, yet it teeters on the line between electrobanger and the former. It’s like a combination of GTRONIC’s grinding hard electro leads and Calvertrons wibble wobble.
“…But its their original tune Baggy Bottom Boys that has become a signature anthem – an enormous dance track thats as moody as it is ecstatic. Its a perfect introduction to JOTS, whose sound continues to mutate from straight-up club bangers into a deeper, darker strain of electronic dance music thats completely original and exciting.
The BBB video captures all these contrasts and complexities in glorious, stroboscopic black & white, filmed at two particularly wild JOTS shows in Boston and Ottawa by Julian Wadsworth (aka Red Foxxworth) and chopped up with glee by LA-based video vanguard, Demonbabies.”
This came out a couple months back, but is still utterly amazing. I had only seen it once and had forgotten about it till just today when I was browsing around the Fool’s Gold Records Facebook page. You know you’re down!
Damn! This kid is only 22. Same age as yours truly, and boy does it make me feel like I’m behind! Anyways, hailing from London, Bill Eff has been putting out some serious fidget since early 2009. He’s had a couple releases on Lee Mortimer’s Wearhouse Music and has been supported by artists such as Kissy Sell Out, Foamo, Kidda & Will Bailey. His wobbles are A+! Definitely droppin’ some of these in my next set.
What up y’all! My buddies up at BoyKings just posted this dope video of a live performance of up and coming band Gemini Club. Homies Black Holes and Kid Color (Hot Biscuits) also make an appearance. If you look closely, maybe you can see me!
Since we’re already skream!ing, figured we could drop some other sweet dubs he busted out. Some played more than others. They’re all still fire nonetheless.
